Little Herb Garden

I didn't know I'm going to dig my hands into gardening until I started cooking. I don't really like flowers. Well, I do, but I don't like growing them. I like them grown and put into a pretty vase. But when I started cooking, I know I'd like some fresh herbs for whatever it is I'm cooking. Problem is, these fresh herbs are not available in palengkes or local wet market. And sometimes, at the grocery too. So I thought, why not grow my own herbs?

So I bought four kinds of herbs to start my little garden. I got Sweet Basil, Dill, Italian Oregano and Rosemary. I already transferred them to their new homes and I think they like their new home. I even think they're beginning to like me...

an entry for and Photobucket.
Happy Start of the week!

I tried to grow basil in a pot in my apartment, but then it attracted flies. I think if I lived in a house with a backyard, I'd have better luck.

I would love to grow my own herbs, but if I live 4 floors up with no soil anywhere so uhmm yes that dream will remain a dream :) But great job in starting up your own little garden! Basil is such a great herb, rosemary is perfect with lamb, and oregano is so versatile!

I do think gardening and cooking go hand in hand..at least they do at my place! I grew fresh dill for the first time this year and loved having it handy for cooking.

I've been wanting to start my own little herb garden. I don't care how big or small it was as long as i had some. I have the perfect spot in my apartment for it, I just need to get the plants.

I have a spice garden at home. I let the herbs grow wildly among themselves. But due to hot weather not all herbs can be grown here.

such a great idea to have them right here and fresh so that you can use them - this year, i relied on my friends and neighbors for herbs that they grew
last year my basil looked like crap
so, i will try again next year

Looks like they are growing really well! Congratulations! I've got a little herb garden as well and I love it. May I suggest you get a bay leaf tree too? They are easy to maintain and great for adobo!
