Shirley Temple

My first encounter with this drink was a few years ago[ or was that lots of years ago?] at the Club Panoly in Boracay. I didn't even know that such a drink exists. Since I don't really drink, this became a favorite.

I always wanted to try different kinds of mocktails, so this may be a start of a series of mocktail posts. What I like about mocktails is that you can drink them anytime of the day and you can serve them to kids. Also, if you are controlling your diet, you can substitute a lighter version of the soda. I used diet 7 Up for this.

Mocktails are mock cocktails.Flavorful and colorful drinks that do not contain alcohol. Perfect for non-drinkers or those who just doesn't want to have alcohol for the night.

Ingredients:
Ice
Lemon-lime soda
Fresh orange juice
Grenadine syrup
Maraschino Cherries
Orange Slices for garnish

Directions:
  • Fill a tall or short glass with ice cubes.
  • Add a tbsp of grenadine syrup.
  • Pour half orange juice and half soda until glass is almost full.
  • Garnish with a slice of orange and maraschino cherry on top.
I don't really like a lot of orange juice in my Shirley Temple so what I do is I fill up my glass with the lemon-lime soda and just squeeze the juice out of the orange slice garnish.

Yes, this juice contains a lot of vitamins and other nutrients, which help to protect against flu! Not only that but also this is very delicious. Hope we enjoy eating healthy and tasty homemade dishes and won’t get any flu this year!

Hey, Peachkins! First let me say...Merry belated Christmas and Happy New Year!

My kids LOVE this drink and order it whenever we eat out. It's the only time they are allowed soda. I hadn't thought to try making it at home.
