Media Noche 2011

We had a wonderful New Year’s eve! Sis and I prepared the spread, well,  actually sis prepared most of it because my internet shop was open until 5pm. We only had trumpets and sparklers because we were scared of firecrackers.

So what was on the dinner table when the clock struck at midnight?

Well, we had some round fruits on the table. Traditionally, they said that you should have 13 kinds of round fruits on the table because it signifies good luck and prosperity all year round.I think we only had eight kinds.

My aunt Becky made her walnut tarts again.

Spinach and Sausage stuffed Jumbo Pasta Shells
Tita Eva made Palitaw.

Palitawis a small flat, round, sweet rice cake made of ground sticky {glutinous} rice that is cooked in boiling water and then rolled in shredded coconut, sugar and sesame seeds. Since it is sticky, it is said to bring the family closer together in the coming year and it also signifies a life without problems.

Strawberry and Banana Trifle
Waldorf Salad
Crispy Spinach with Sour Cream-Chives dip
Cheers! May this year bring us all a big fat bank account & a slim body…. and not the other way around. Happy New Year everyone!
