Cherry Compote

I’ve been thinking a lot since this morning on what I would write about today.

Should I write about how beautiful these cherries are?

Should I write about how the sun was shining this morning and the how gloomy it became this afternoon.

Should I write about how “awake” I get in the middle of the night and just stare at my daughter who is sleeping right beside me?

Should I write about a word that I just learned recently?

Well…okay.

About three months ago, I discovered that there is actually a term used for pieces of fruit that is stewed in sugar.

Silly me.

..and that word is Compote.

Yup. Compote. Compote. Compote.

I could get used to this word…hee.

Actually, I’ve already done a lot of compote-ing… and I mean–A LOT! It’s just that I didn’t know it was called a compote before.

No, seriously, Compote is a french word which means mixture but is used to call a dessert made of whole fruit or pieces of fruit stewed in sugar and some spices over low heat. It can either be served warm or cold.
