“When you wake up in the morning, Pooh,” said Piglet at last, “what’s the first thing you say to yourself?”

“What’s for breakfast?” said Pooh. “What do you say, Piglet?”

“I say, I wonder what’s going to happen exciting today?” said Piglet.

Pooh nodded thoughtfully. “It’s the same thing,” he said.”
A.A. Milne

Just like Winnie the Pooh, I think breakfasts are exciting.  Specially hotel breakfasts. You may have an idea of the breakfast items that they’re going to serve but you don’t know which ones, so it always comes out as a surprise. Hey, I love surprises, don’t you?

Breakfast at The Hotel Elizabeth, Baguio City | www.thepeachkitchen.comOn our first morning at The Hotel Elizabeth in Baguio, I made sure I woke up early because I want to take photos of the buffet table. Unfortunately, there are {I think} two tourist buses of people checked in at the hotel and the line at the buffet table was really long, I doubt I’d be able to take a decent photo so I decided to wait it out and just take a shot of what I ate.

I had pork tocino, sunny-side up egg, garlic rice, noodles, a bit of salad, pork adobo and fried milkfish.  Eventhough, I’ve had my share of tasteless congee from other hotels, I  got myself half a bowl of it. It was a cold morning and a steaming bowl of soup would be like a warm hug. I was surprised when the congee tasted like it was cooked at home, chicken simmered until they fall off the bone. It was very tasty, very savory, I even got myself a second bowl.

I heard there’s Beef Tapa from those who had breakfast a little later. I wish I got to try it.

Ykaie had many bowls of chocolate cereals {I think it was Koko Krunch} and milk. I’m guessing she liked getting cereals from the dispenser than eating the actual cereal itself.

There was a bread station, where there’s whipped butter and Baguio’s famous Strawberry Jam. There’s Salad with honey mustard dressing, Molo Soup and Pancakes….

…bacon, longganisa and fresh fruits: watermelon, pineapple and papaya…

Yup, it was a pretty heavy breakfast. Breakfasts like these make me want to go and canvas for suv bike racks so I can take our bike wherever I go. I mean, bike riding is a great way to sneak some exercise in and roam around a certain place at the same time.

  1. Wow, that’s one hearty breakfast, I like it! The food looks delicious, I’m getting hungry. Some hotels don’t offer even half of that spread.

  2. That quotation was the most adorable thing ever! I love it!

And breakfast is definitely the most exciting thing of the day. I stayed in a hotel last week when I went out of town, but their breakfast didn’t look half as good as the one you had. So my brother and cousin and I just went out to get waffles instead.

I love the variety of different foods. I’d come here for breakfast alone.
