Food Photography Circa 1980’s and 1990’s

I have a vague recollection of my mother taking photos of the food she cooks for family parties and celebrations back in the 80’s and the 90’s.

Back then she used film cameras and have the photos developed later. She wasn’t able to save all of the photos, though. I only found a few of them. It was a bit fascinating to know that this food hobby that me and my sis share sprung from our mom.

Here, let me share some of the photos with you. They may not look good because the photos are kinda old and yellowish when I scanned them.

Let me start with the food my family can’t live without – Pork Barbecue

I guess this one’s Meatloaf with Pineapple Slices

Look at the garnishes: parlsey, green olives and more pineapple slices!

Sautéed Shrimp and Camaron

The Party Table

I guess, it’s something I adapted because I saw her do it all the time when I was younger.

But cooking and taking food photos is something I love doing… and I’ll keep on doing it because it makes me happy!

  1. Looks so yummy to me! I better scour our old albums too baka yan din ang biuo ni mader kahit wala pang instagram hahah

  2. I can’t believe you found food photography that your mom took! That is SO cool!  We were too busy eating to take pictures. 🙂 I love these old shots and it’s obvious that the food gene and photography gene were passed down to you.

  3. It’s a great thing you take pictures of your food during that era… I remember during that time, we really budget the amount of shots the film could make – so it’s all about people, not sights, and definitely not about food. 🙁 BTW, the shrimp platter made me drool. 🙂

  4. Really amazing, you share both passion and have photos to look at her work.  You can also see from the presentation how old this photo is, looks like I am looking at a 70’s to 80’s cookbook
