I’ve always wanted to try cooking using a complete recipe mix but with all the brands out there, how can one really choose which product to try? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a purist. I’m actually a fan of a few, specially pancake mixes and of Knorr Sinigang Mix with Gabi but other than that I always do it the traditional way.

Recently, I was invited to be one of many to witness the renewal of partnership between industry leader Knorr and its endorser Chef Marvin Agustin.

The food that we ate during the event were all prepared by Chef Marvin himself and he used Knorr products in cooking it. We had Bangus Belly Sinigang, Vegetable Spring Rolls, Ginataang Sigarilyas and Pork Menudo — and everything was really tasty!

While having lunch, we were even serenaded by  the 12 contenders of the soon-to-be seen KANTA PILIPINAS Reality Singing Show of TV5 produced by Chef Marvin’s Futuretainment Inc . and Medianation Inc. {which reminded me that I needed to buy microphone at Musicians friend.}

I loved how the Ginataang Sigarilyas tasted and I wanted to see for myself if it’s gonna taste the same at home. So using Knorr Ginataang Gulay Complete Recipe Mix, I made Ginataang Sitaw at Kalabasa. The instruction at the back is very easy to follow.

  • Simmer pork, squash and string beans in a cup of water until cooked.
  • Add Knorr ginataang gulay mix and stir until dissolved.
  • Add Shrimp last and turn off heat when cooked

With three steps and no sautéing, sounds fairly easy right? And it taste just the same as the Ginataang Sigarilyas at the event.

I still prefer the taste of  fresh Coconut Cream/Milk and I would still do the traditional way of shredding the coconut, squeezing the juice out of it and then straining it to get the milk. But if you’re a busy mom, then this is the one for you because this makes it easier and  a lot faster plus Knorr Ginataang Gulay Mix comes close to the taste of real Coconut Milk.

According to Marvin Agustin, recently named Young Entrepreneur of the Year, the values – Passion, Innovation, and the heart for good food – are the things that bind him and Knorr.
“It’s nice to promote something that you’ve been already using for a long time, inspired by the teachings of my mom, cooked and served well from the heart,” explains Chef Marvin. “Good food brings good friends and family together, so having Knorr by your side, is already an assurance that you have an ally in the kitchen, which I consider the heart of every home.”
Chef Marvin considers his mom Maria Teresa as his inspiration in everything he does, including being a chef. In fact, his soon-to-be-opened and first Filipino family restaurant Maria Teresa is a loving tribute to his mom.

“The kitchen has bonded me and my mom in unexpected ways, and I am thankful that Knorr has given me this chance to share a part of myself to every mother in the country,” says the accomplished restaurateur-chef-actor. “Together with Knorr, we will provide modern-day Filipino families with dishes that respond to their needs, while making their cooking experience fulfilling, pleasurable and enriching.”

  3. Ako naman as much as I would love to do things that traditional way, I have no time to do it. Kaya itong mga recipe mixes tlaga ang partner ko sa pagluluto. 🙂

  4. Your presentation is gorgeous, it doesn’t look like some ingredients came from a sachet. But I agree, I love the distinct taste of coconut milk, only I don’t know how to handle it. I might use this one instead LOL
