Our reservation at the Discovery Country Suites in Tagaytay includes a complimentary breakfast for three. We didn’t avail of it on our first day, though because we wanted to eat at Breakfast at Antonio’s.

The next day, we were too lazy to go out and we really wanted to try what they serve at Restaurant Verbena. peanutbutter asked me if they serve a buffet breakfast. I told him that on our way out the first day,  I only saw a center table with breads, pastries, fruits and fruit juices.

And I was right! We were given a menu and you have to order breakfast a la carte on their Country Breakfast Special…and then you can help yourself on the fresh fruit juices, breads, pastries and fresh fruits on the center table.

I went for the Chicken and Pork Adobo for Ykaie and I to share. The adobo was served with pineapple tidbits, quail eggs, parmesan-baked tomato and garlic rice.

The staff was encouraging me to order a separate kid’s meal for Ykaie but I declined. The serving of the adobo was quite big and in combination with the unlimited breads, pastries and fruits was quite filling as well. It was enough for both Ykaie and me.

peanutbutter and Ykaie checking out the fruits and the breads…My little girl is always drawn to the orange wedges and pineapple slices while my darling husby always gets toast and butter plus coffee and the newspaper…

peanutbutter‘s chosen breakfast was the Tagaytay Tinapa Omelet. It was creamy omelet filled with flaked smoked fish topped by a pimiento salsa and served with parmesan-baked tomato and garlic rice. I had a bite and it was really delicious! The creaminess of the egg and the salty, flavorful tinapa was a wonderful flavor combination!

When our meal ended, I satisfied my sweet tooth with a carrot muffin drizzled with dulce de leche and some fresh fruits!

  2. Yum…very filling foodies indeed. The omelette looks good and haven’t tried it with tinapa, sounds very interesting 🙂

  3. Adobo.. My all time favorite.. the good news is, its good for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Great photos! and by the way so you mean, the main breakfast meals are ala cart for order but the bread and the ones on the center table are buffet? Did I get that right?

  4. Hello very informative article.

By the way, I just want to ask (I know that breakfast is included in room rate as a la cart) do I need to pay for our breakfast menu once I ordered?

    1. Yeah, you have to pay for the breakfast you order from the menu. But that was before, I don’t know if they already changed the policy since they revamped the place.
