If you’ve read the ‘about me’ section here at The Peach Kitchen, you’d know that Sinigang is one of my favorite dishes in the world. That’s why if you’re gonna search this blog, you’ll find out that there are many versions of Sinigang posted at the back. I am frequently trying out new versions of this dish because this is not only my favorite but also my daughter’s.

A few months ago, I was able to attend the launching of the Del Monte Red Movement, a culinary revolution that changes the way we look at traditional Filipino dishes. To banner this Red Movement is the new breakthrough recipe, the Del Monte Red Sinigang.

It’s a reinvention of the traditional Sinigang dish which uses Del Monte Tomato Sauce instead of fresh tomatoes. Del Monte Culinary Ambassador Chef Dino Ferrari showed us how it easy it was to cook the dish and everyone was able to taste it after the cooking demo.

There were also other dishes which are a part of the Del Monte Red Movement like the Del Monte Red Bulalo, Del Monte Red Embotido and Del Monte Red Sinampalukang Manok. I guess it’s time we say goodbye to the traditional thinking that Del Monte Tomato Sauce can only be used in cooking our ‘sarciado’ dishes like Menudo, Mechado and Caldereta. Any dish can now be made richer by adding Del Monte Tomato Sauce.

I’ve always loved tomato-based soups because they are heartier and more flavorful than clear soups. I couldn’t agree more that this is indeed Sinigang made better. It’s richer and more malinamnam. The essence of the tomato sauce even seeps in inside the meat enhancing its flavor.

As for Ykaie? Well, she is not a picky eater and because Sinigang is also her favorite ulam, it wasn’t that hard to make her try the Del Monte Red Sinigang. She instantly loved it when I cooked it for the first time at home. She even declared that it’s now her favorite instead of the traditional one which she now calls “white” sinigang…LOL!

I am so glad I joined the #RedMovement! Next week, I’m planning to try the Del Monte Red Bulalo
