This  Sriracha Popcorn has  freshly popped corn kernels drench in Sriracha, butter, and calamansi sauce….

Sriracha Popcorn

This is what’s so good even if we just had a start of  “A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week” (taken from the movie Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day).

Well, that’s according to Ykaie since our Sunday started with her being sick. I don’t want to elaborate but peanutbutter and I had little to no sleep nursing Ykaie back to health until monday night. The following day when she recovered from her illness, I was surprised to see sore eyes!

I was mostly offline since last Sunday. Yesterday I was offline the whole day, bonding with my daughter. We had a GRIMM Season 4 marathon. Have I told you that GRIMM is our favorite series of all time? Yup, but we stopped watching since episode 5 because we got busy with school, work, and mommy things. I guess with Ykaie being sick and all, we finally had time to catch up.

Yes, I had Sriracha Popcorn while Ykaie had ripe mangoes and oranges to munch on while watching Nick Burkhardt get his Grimm back and Juliet become a Hexenbiest.

You know, I used to be in love with chips and dip as movie food but now, I prefer popcorn. I love those movie theater popcorn that’s drenched with butter and more butter. But if I make popcorn at home, I prefer flavors that can’t be found anywhere else. Why Sriracha you might ask. Well, we always have a bottle of Sriracha in the fridge — Yes, we are Sriracha loving people and we put it on food that needs a little zing.

And Sriracha + Butter + Calamansi + Popcorn seems like a great idea. It’s actually a delicious idea.

Ykaie is okay now and we are ready for school tomorrow.

  6. Ahh, sriracha. One of my husband’s favorite spicy accouterments. My toddler is not a fan, when he talks about it he says, “daddy likes spicy sauce, but I don’t.” Oh well. We’re working him up incrementally. Other than spicy foods, he is very willing to try new things.

  7. I wonder if sriracha and chocolate would be a good combo. I feel like there’s something I would want to mix this with to tone down the spiciness, but I don’t know what. Chocolate is always my go-to for popcorn toppings lol.

  8. My husband bought sriracha in S&R pero naexpire na lang di niya naubos. hehehe! We’re not really into spicy foods kasi.

    1. Sayang nga, no small sizes kasi sa S&R. I’m not sure if I can buy sriracha in other supermarket.

  12. When I read the title, my first thought on Sriracha was a food shop name as I haven’t heard of it before. Haha Thanks of sharing, I suddenly missed eating popcorn. hehe
..and good to know your kid is fine now, God Bless! 🙂

  13. I’ve never tried sriracha before. Time to look for it in the grocery! By the way, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Grimm! Glad to find a fellow Grimm addict. 🙂

  14. I had popcorn with a red sauce on it and lime juice on it when I went to Mexico, but I don’t remember if it was Siracha sauce. This sounds super yummy!

  15. I think this is something I can do. The recipe looks really simple (for your skill level, of course) but you never fail to impress me with your food and your photography as well.

    And I hope Ykaie’s better now. 🙂

  16. Sriracha popcorn sounds and looks really good, but I’m not very good with spicy food. It might be something my husband would go for though. Love popcorn at home too, mostly we get just the buttered ones, would love to try experimenting on flavors too. Would a little truffle oil be good?

  17. Thanks for sharing your recipe! It’s been a while since I had a popcorn at home and it’s just the plain popcorn with butter. Now I have a new one to try!

  18. Love this new popcorn recipe however I would like to know about the exact measurement of a one bag popcorn (cooked) in terms of grams or cup (8oz)…just want to come out with the perfect taste from your recipe. -Macy
