Tuen Mun Roasts: Our Quick Lunch Stop After Car Errands

Tuen Mun Roasts

This Monday was one of those long, errand-filled days. Daddydoodledoo and I spent the morning at the car shop — we had our headlights replaced and had some bumper lights installed (don’t ask me the name, I just know it’s lights! 🤣). By the time everything was finished, it was already past twelve and we were starving.

Since we were already nearby, we decided to have lunch at Tuen Mun Roasts. You can’t miss it — those rows of roast chicken, white chicken, and BBQ pork asado hanging by the front window instantly tell you what they’re all about. Comfort food at its finest.

I went for the Soy Chicken and Chinese Sausage Claypot Rice. It came piping hot — so hot that I burned my tongue on the first bite (which I tried to swallow quickly… only to burn my throat too, haha!). It was served with a light, slightly sweet soy sauce to pour over the rice. The Chinese sausage, though sliced paper-thin, packed so much flavor, and the soy chicken was juicy and tender. My only wish? A side of ginger scallion sauce would’ve made it perfect.

Daddydoodledoo ordered the White Chicken and BBQ Pork Asado Rice Bowl, and of course I had to try a bite. The pork was tender and smoky, with just the right sweetness, while the white chicken was simple, clean-tasting comfort food. We both had tall glasses of Black Gulaman to go with our meal — refreshing and the perfect lunch pair.

Sure, the day came with a hefty ₱16,500 bill for car repairs (ouch 😅), but at least we wrapped it up with a satisfying meal. Simple, flavorful, and filling — exactly what we needed. I have a feeling we’ll be back soon, and next time I’ve got my eye on their roasted duck.
