There’s something exciting about seeing a new restaurant open in your neighborhood. It’s like an instant invitation to get dressed, head out, and have a mini food adventure with the family. So when we noticed that a Ribshack Grill branch had opened nearby, of course we just had to try it!
We went there for dinner the other night — and you know how it is with us, food always feels like a small celebration.
Grilled Blue Marlin: My “Pa-Healthy” Choice
I think Ribshack’s specialty is their Baby Back Ribs (it’s in the name, after all), but since I was in a “pa-healthy” mood that day, I decided to go for the Grilled Blue Marlin instead.
Their marlin is priced at ₱130 per 100g, and I liked that they actually let you choose your cut before grilling. I picked one that was around ₱260, just the right size for dinner.
When it arrived, I could already tell it was cooked perfectly — firm yet juicy, smoky but not burnt. The fish had that rich, savory flavor that I love about blue marlin. It was seasoned well, a bit garlicky and buttery, and paired nicely with their simple sides. Daddydoodledoo ordered the same thing and gave me that approving nod — meaning, “okay ‘to ah.” 😄
It’s honestly one of those dishes that makes you feel full and satisfied but not guilty after.

Spareribs
Meanwhile, Twinkle and my sister (who calls herself Anney) decided to go for the bestsellers — the Spareribs (₱135). I’m guessing it’s one of the most popular (and affordable) dishes on the menu, and after seeing it, I understood why.
According to sis, the marinade tasted just like classic Filipino-style BBQ — sweet and smoky. Twinkle, of course, was all smiles while eating. Anything with BBQ sauce instantly wins her heart.
Beef Kebab: A Fun, Flavorful Bite
We also ordered the Beef Kebab (₱205) to share. Their version was a bit different — instead of traditional cubes of meat, it looked like skewered mini meatballs with zucchini, tomato, pineapple, and bell pepper.
It came with a light garlic sauce that added a nice balance to the grilled flavor. You can also order it by the stick for ₱75, which I think is a good add-on if you just want something extra on the side.
Ribs for Breakfast (Yes, You Read That Right!)
We couldn’t leave without bringing home something for Ykaie, who wasn’t with us that night. Naturally, we ordered her a serving of the Ribs — and she ended up eating it for breakfast the next day!
The best part? She looked so satisfied while eating it that I made a mental note to order it for myself next time. If something makes a teen that happy early in the morning, it must be really good.
It’s always a treat when we find a new restaurant that gives us both good food and family bonding time. Ribshack turned out to be one of those places — casual, affordable, and perfect for when you’re craving grilled food that actually delivers on flavor.
Next visit, I’m definitely trying those Baby Back Ribs everyone’s talking about!
