Let’s be real, mommies—madalas may tira talaga sa hapag. And instead of letting it go to waste (sayang naman!), I like to get creative and turn kahapon’s ulam into something exciting for today and even tomorrow! It’s not just practical—it’s fun, budget-friendly, and gives me a break from cooking a totally new dish.
Here’s how I transformed Adobo, our all-time favorite, into three different meals without anyone in the family saying, “Adobo na naman?”

Day 1: Classic Adobo for Lunch
Of course, we start with the classic. Pork or chicken adobo, simmered in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and pepper. Served with lots of steamed rice and a side of kamatis—happy tummy agad!
Day 2: Adobo Flakes for Breakfast
Kinabukasan, I shred the leftover adobo, fry it until crispy, and voila—Adobo Flakes! Ang bango sa kusina, parang bagong luto. Perfect with sinangag and itlog. Quick, easy, and oh-so-sarap.

Day 3: Adobo Pasta for Merienda or Dinner
Surprise twist! I flake the adobo, sauté it in olive oil with garlic, cream, and chili flakes, then toss it with cooked pasta (spaghetti or penne works great!). Add grated cheese or a squeeze of calamansi for that Pinoy-Italian fusion. It’s rich, savory, and a total crowd-pleaser!
Bonus: Adobo Rice (Kapag may konti pang tira!)
Kung may natira pa talaga (wow, ang dami!), I mix the bits into fried rice with garlic and leftover veggies. It becomes a one-pan dinner na tipid, mabilis, at ubos palagi! Add salted egg ang tomato pa, para mas masarap.
Why I Love Doing Leftover Makeovers:
- Less food waste
- Saves time and effort
- Makes me feel like a budget genius 😄
- Kids don’t get bored with the food
- And syempre, masarap pa rin!
So the next time may tira sa ulam, don’t toss it—transform it! Get creative in the kitchen and you’ll be surprised how far one dish can go.
