Why I’m Trying to Lose Weight

I am trying to lose weight not really because of vanity reason. Well, maybe partly because I want my old clothes to fit again. But the main reason I’m trying to lose weight is because of health reasons. I’ve seen family, acquaintances and friends die because of obesity-related illness. As a mom, I also want my child to grow up eating healthy food. I allow her to eat junk food at times like chips and fries and soda but there’s a limit.

I came from a family who loves eating soul food and these soul foods are sometimes high-sugar and high-fat food. I also came from a family with history of  Type-2 diabetes and high blood pressure. If you are obese, you are more prone to diseases such as cancer, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and triglycerides, coronary artery disease (CAD), and stroke. If you lose weight, the risk for these conditions is reduced. These are Health Facts that shouldn’t be ignored.

I’m scared of developing those kinds of diseases. This is the primary reason I’m trying to lose weight.
