DaddyDoodleDoo’s Birthday Celebration at Hao Wei Grill and Hot Pot

Hao Wei Grill and Hot Pot

Life’s been a whirlwind lately, and with Daddydoodledoo’s birthday last week, we knew we wanted something fun yet comforting—even if it meant celebrating late. Originally, we were planning on Thai food, but as we strolled through SM Fairview, Ykaie and Twinkle spotted Hao Wei Grill & Hot Pot and their faces lit up. Alam nyo naman how much they love samgyupsal, hot pot, and unlimited everything, diba? Biglang nakiusap sina Ykaie at Twinkle, “Can we eat here na lang?”

So syempre, the birthday boy agreed (a.k.a. napapayag na rin haha)!

Pricing

The rate per head was around ₱699 for adults — not bad for an all-you-can-eat hot pot and grill combo. Kids get discounted rates too, depending on height. And if you’re a frequent diner, they give out loyalty cards (after 10 visits, may free buffet ka — nice diba?). Of course, the birthday boy gets to eat for free, as with all buffet naman, as long as may two paying companions.

First Impressions

The place had that classic buffet vibe — casual, spacious, and perfect for families and barkadas. May pagka-Tong Yang or Yakimix feel, but a bit more relaxed. We were greeted by friendly staff who quickly explained how the buffet works — pick your ingredients, cook it your way (grill or hot pot), and repeat. Simple and sulit!

Everything is in the buffet station but you have to ask for the beef and the shrimp.

Food & Buffet Selection

Now for the best part — the food! Here’s what we enjoyed:

🔥 Grill Station
  • Thinly sliced beef, pork, and chicken — perfect for grilling.
  • You can also grill seafood and chicken intestines, gizzard, etc.
  • A few marinated options too for added flavor
  • Dipping sauces galore! May soy-garlic, sesame oil, chili, sweet & spicy — the kids had fun mixing their own sauce!

🍲 Hot Pot Station

  • Broth options included mild mushroom, spicy Sichuan, Laksa, Sinigang, and a few others we didn’t get to try (next time na!)
  • We filled our bowls with: fish balls, squid, corn, mushrooms, tofu, baby potatoes, noodles, cabbage, and more

🍽️ Cooked Food, Side Dishes & Drinks

  • There’s the usual, fried rice, pancit, glazed chicken, spare ribs, and others
  • There’s siomai and siopao.
  • Kani salad and sushi
  • Kimchi, pickled radish, and fresh lettuce
  • A small dessert table with sweetened bananas, halo-halo, ice cream, simple cakes, and fresh fruits
  • Unli drinks included iced tea, blue lemonade, and coffee (tipid-approved!)

Even if it wasn’t a big celebration, this little dinner turned out to be one of those sweet, simple moments that make you feel full — not just sa tummy, pero sa puso. 💛

Happy birthday again, Daddydoodledoo! Here’s to more spontaneous food trips and unli kwentuhan over hot pot steam and grilled goodness.
