Errand days can be exhausting, but they can also be a good excuse to eat something new and exciting — para may reward sa pagod, diba? 😅
This week, I finally got to tick off something that’s been on my to-try list for a while — the Krispy Kare-Kare Naked Burrito from Army Navy!
Ever since I saw it online, I knew I had to try it. That’s such a fun twist on a Filipino classic! At first bite, ang napansin ko agad: the Kare-Kare sauce — grabe, ang sarap! Creamy, nutty, rich, and full of flavor. It really tied everything together — the rice, veggies, and yes, the crispy lechon kawali on top.
Now to be honest, medyo matigas si lechon kawali (konti lang naman ), but it still gave that satisfying crunch, and the flavor was there. The rest of the dish totally made up for it. Every spoonful had a little surprise — may softness from the rice, crisp from the veggies, creaminess from the sauce… nakakatuwang kainin! Definitely a flavor adventure.

Since it was a chill but productive day, we paired our meals with some comforting soups. I had the Tortilla Soup, which was warm, tangy, and had just the right amount of spice. Daddydoodledoo went for the Clam Chowder, which he really enjoyed — creamy and hearty, just the way he likes it.
And of course, drinks! I treated myself to a French Vanilla Cold Brew (kasi pagod na ako and coffee is self-care ☕️) while he had a Lychee Iced Tea, which was super refreshing.
The reason we were out? Well, life update! Daddydoodledoo is changing jobs — a big step! He’s currently completing his requirements for the new role, and I’ve been tagging along to support him. This lunch felt like a little celebration — of progress, of new beginnings, and of just being together despite the busyness of life.
Sometimes the best meals aren’t just about the food, but the moment they come with. And today, this one hit the spot.
Thanks, Army Navy! I might just come back for that burrito again… or try another one of your fusion surprises.
