Baon on a Budget: 7 Days of Healthy Lunchbox Meals Under ₱70

Baon On a Budget

Running out of baon ideas? Here’s a week’s worth of simple, nutritious, and affordable meals your kids (and even dad!) will actually enjoy eating.

Baon On a Budget

I don’t know about you, mommies, but every morning feels like a mini cooking marathon at home — lalo na kapag may baon pang kailangang ihanda. You want something filling, healthy, and of course, hindi magrereklamo si kiddo. But with rising food prices, it’s also important that every meal fits the budget.

That’s why I came up with this list of 7 Days of Healthy Baon Meals Under ₱70. These are easy-to-cook, kid-approved, and perfect for busy mornings. Most of these can be prepped the night before — para less stress, more smiles before school!

🍳 Monday: Adobo Flakes Rice + Fried Egg + Banana

Start the week strong with a classic Pinoy favorite. Use leftover adobo from the weekend, flake it and fry it and you’ve got an instant flavorful meal. Pair it with fried egg for extra protein and a banana for energy. Simple, hearty, and done in minutes!

🍗 Tuesday: Chicken Tocino + Garlic Rice + Tomato Cucumber Salad

Sweet and savory chicken tocino is always a hit! I use a homemade version para less preservatives. Add garlic rice and a small tomato-cucumber salad on the side for a refreshing touch.

🍝 Wednesday: Spaghetti with Veggie Sauce + Cheese Stick

Midweek calls for something fun! Sneak in grated carrots or kalabasa in your spaghetti sauce (trust me, they won’t notice). Add one or two cheese sticks on the side for that “merienda + lunch” combo feel.

🥢 Thursday: Tuna Fried Rice + Egg Roll

This is my go-to when I have canned tuna in the pantry. Just sauté garlic, onion, and tuna in oil, toss in rice, and season. Serve it with egg rolls (pinalo lang na itlog with a bit of milk and salt) for a full, balanced meal.

🍖 Friday: BBQ Liempo + Rice + Atchara

Friday treat! Slice thin liempo pieces and marinate them the night before so you can grill or pan-fry in the morning. Serve with rice and a bit of atchara to cut the richness.

🍛 Saturday: Pininyahang Manok + Rice

Weekend baon for school clubs or errands! This dish is creamy, flavorful, and full of veggies. The pineapple adds a sweet touch that kids love. (Check out my full Pininyahang Manok recipe on the blog!)

🍤 Sunday: Fried Shrimp + Garlic Rice + Mango

For Sunday outings or family days, this is a fun and special baon meal. You can even make it tempura-style if you’re feeling extra. Pair with sweet mango slices for a tropical touch.

These are just ideas, mommies — tweak them according to what’s available and what your family loves. The goal is to make baon time stress-free and still delicious. Whether it’s adobo rice or tuna fried rice, what matters is that every meal is made with love and intention. 💛

And remember: hindi kailangang mahal para maging masarap. Sometimes, the best meals are the simplest ones — as long as they come from your kitchen (and your heart).
