Let’s be honest — motherhood is one long to-do list that never ends. Between school runs, work, and trying to get some “me time,” meal planning sometimes takes a backseat. And yet, every 6 PM, someone in the house will still ask that dreaded question: “Ma, ano ulam?” 😅

That’s why I started doing Filipino meal prep — not the fancy kind with glass containers and color-coded lists (though that’s nice, too!). Mine’s the real mom version: simple, homey dishes that last in the fridge, are easy to reheat, and still feel like love on a plate. 💛

Here’s a sample one-week Filipino menu plan that’s perfect for busy moms like us!

Monday: Ginisang Sayote + Fried Galunggong

A comforting start to the week! Ginisang sayote is quick, budget-friendly, and pairs perfectly with crispy galunggong.
Prep Tip: Pre-cut your sayote and store it in an airtight container for faster cooking.

Tuesday: Adobo sa Gata

Adobo gets an upgrade with creamy coconut milk. The longer it sits, the better it tastes!
Prep Tip: Cook extra — it’s even more flavorful the next day.

Wednesday: Chicken Afritada

Colorful, hearty, and kid-approved!
Prep Tip: Make a double batch and freeze half for a future “lazy day.”

Thursday: Tofu and Vegetable Stir-Fry

A light midweek meal that balances all the earlier “sauce-y” dishes.
Prep Tip: Chop your veggies ahead and store them in labeled ziplocks — easy stir-fry anytime!

Pork Belly Sinigang

Friday: Pork Sinigang (Weekend Starter!)

Because nothing beats a bowl of tangy sinigang after a long week.
Prep Tip: Keep your pre-measured tamarind mix, washed kangkong, and sliced radish ready to go.

Saturday: Ginataang Kalabasa with Shrimp

Comfort food na creamy, filling, and full of flavor.
Prep Tip: Gata-based dishes store well — perfect for next-day lunch.

Sunday: Free Day / Leftover Magic

Use up what’s left! Turn adobo into adobo flakes or afritada into sandwich filling.

Meal prepping isn’t about perfection — it’s about peace of mind.
It’s knowing that no matter how busy the day gets, your family will sit down to a meal that’s made with love. 💛

So go ahead, try this plan, adjust it to your family’s taste, and maybe even sneak in a dessert for yourself. You deserve it, Mom.
