Los Chachos Fil-Mex Kusina: A Very Full (and Happy) Dinner

Dinner the other night brought us to Los Chachos Fil-Mex Kusina at SM North, and as usual, we were with my sister who calls herself Anney. We were actually there to help her buy a luggage for her upcoming European trip— but you know how these things go… after shopping, kain muna. And of course, she ordered a lot 😅

Some of the dishes didn’t even make it to the photo because halos pare-pareho na ng itsura at punô na talaga ang table.

Starting Strong: Trio Starter Platter

I was craving an appetizer, so sis suggested we get the Trio Starter Platter (₱745) and I’m so glad we did (kahit hindi namin naubos).

This platter comes with:

  • Loaded Fab Fries
  • Nacho con Queso Fundido
  • Jalapeño Cheese Sticks

Honestly, this tray alone can already feed 5–6 people. The loaded fries impressed me the most because even with all the toppings, they stayed crispy — hindi soggy, which is rare. The queso fundido was rich, cheesy, and very satisfying, especially when scooped with the nachos. The jalapeño cheese sticks had just enough kick to balance all the cheese.

Masarap talaga… pero dito pa lang, medyo ramdam na naming naparami na ang order 😂

Tacos That Left Us Wanting More

Sis and I each ordered Pork Carnitas Tacos (2 pcs – ₱190), thinking they would be on the bigger side. Surprise —they were small, and nabitin talaga kami.

The pork carnitas were flavorful and tender, but before we knew it, ubos na agad. So naturally, we added Birria to the order — and wow, that was such a good decision. Rich, savory, and deeply comforting, the birria had that slow-cooked depth that makes you want more tacos.

Drinks to Balance All That Food

For drinks:

  • I had the Classic Horchata (₱135) — creamy, lightly sweet, and very refreshing
  • Sis and Twinkle ordered Houseblend Iced Tea (₱95)
  • Daddydoodledoo kept it simple with water

The horchata was especially good — perfect pang-tanggal umay after all the cheese and meat.

Burrito Salad Wraps & Light(er) Choices

For something a bit lighter, Daddydoodledoo ordered the All-Day Carnitas Burrito Salad Wrap, while sis and I shared the Pork Carnitas Burrito Salad Wrap (₱315).

This version swaps rice for lettuce, making it feel fresher and less heavy. Inside were:

  • tender pork carnitas
  • pico de gallo
  • pickled onions
  • cabbage
  • their signature sauce

It’s a great option if you want all the flavors of a burrito without feeling too full — although, given everything else we ordered, full pa rin kami 😅

Twinkle’s Favorites (and a Surprise Portion!)

As usual, Twinkle stuck to her favorites:

  • Double Cheese Quesadilla (₱165)
  • Garlic Parmesan Chicken Tenders (5 pcs – ₱430)

We were surprised when the chicken tenders arrived with Mexican rice and coleslaw — ang laki pala ng serving! The tenders were juicy, well-seasoned, and very kid-friendly, while the garlic parmesan coating made them extra indulgent.

What I Think (aka Mommy Peach Real Talk)

We really enjoyed the food at Los Chachos — everything was flavorful, generous, and satisfying. If I had to nitpick, it would only be this: we ordered too much 😂

But honestly, that’s not the worst problem to have.

It’s a great place to bring family, especially if you want:

  • shareable plates
  • bold flavors
  • and a fun Fil-Mex dining experience

Next time, we’ll order a bit more strategically… or maybe not 😜
