Apple Pie Oatmeal


  • ½ cup steel-cut oats
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 apple, peeled and diced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • a pinch of cinnamon


  1. If you’re feeling a little fancy, you can caramelize the diced apple in butter and brown sugar before mixing it with the cooked oatmeal.
  2. Or if not, combine milk, water, apple and oats in a small pot.
  3. Bring to a boil with constant stirring to prevent it from sticking in the bottom of the pot and burning.
  4. Simmer for 20-30 minutes, while stirring constantly.
  5. Add cinnamon and brown sugar. Add a little more sugar if you like it sweeter.
  6. Serve hot.
