Mocha Oatmeal with Almonds


  • ½ cup steel-cut oats
  • 1½ cup + ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 10 pcs almonds
  • 1 tsp instant coffee
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder {I used Cadbury Bourneville Cocoa Powder}
  • sugar/sweetene


  1. Combine milk, water, instant coffee, cocoa powder and oats in a small pot.
  2. Bring to a boil with constant stirring to prevent it from sticking in the bottom of the pot and burning.
  3. Simmer for 20-30 minutes, while stirring constantly.
  4. Stir in remaining 1/2 cup milk and turn heat up to med-high until oatmeal is bubbling again.
  5. Add sweetener.
  6. Sprinkle with crushed or whole almonds before serving
