As a mom, I’ve packed more sandwiches than I can count — and while ham and cheese will always be a classic, sometimes the kids (and even us adults!) need something a little more exciting in the lunchbox. That’s why I’ve been trying out new sandwich ideas that are just as easy to make, budget-friendly, and kid-approved.
If you’re running out of baon inspiration, here are a few fun and creative sandwich ideas that can make lunchtime feel new again!
🥚 1. Egg Salad with a Twist
Instead of plain mayo, I mix mashed hard-boiled eggs with a little ketchup, mustard, and chopped pickles. It’s creamy, tangy, and always a hit with my 9-year-old.
🐔 2. Chicken Mayo with Pineapple
Leftover chicken? Shred it, mix with mayo, and toss in some finely chopped pineapple tidbits. The sweet-savory combo is surprisingly good!
🧀 3. Cheesy Tuna Melt
Mix canned tuna with mayo, add grated cheese, and toast it until melty. I wrap it in foil so it stays warm by recess.
🥑 4. Avocado and Egg Sandwich
A layer of mashed avocado, sliced boiled egg, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper — super healthy and keeps kids full.
🌭 5. Hotdog and Ketchup Sliders
Use mini buns or pandesal, add sliced cooked hotdog and ketchup (or cheese). It’s simple, but still feels like a treat.
🥩 6. Beef Tapa or Tocino Leftover Sandwich
Turn last night’s ulam into baon! Just slice it up and add lettuce or tomato. A great way to reduce food waste too.
🍌 7. Banana and Peanut Butter (or Choco Spread)
This sweet sandwich is perfect for picky eaters or days when you want a “dessert-style” baon. Add a sprinkle of oats for crunch!
Switching things up doesn’t mean extra effort — most of these can be made in under 10 minutes with ingredients already in your kitchen. With a little creativity (and a lot of love), baon time can be something your kids look forward to every single day.
