I Bought a Yogurt Maker… Now I Make My Own Yogurt at Home!

Yogurt Maker

There’s something about making things from scratch that just feels so satisfying.

Yogurt Maker

I recently bought a yogurt maker — and oh my gosh, I don’t know why I didn’t do this sooner! I’ve been eyeing one for a while now, lalo na’t we love yogurt at home — for breakfast, snacks, smoothies, even salad dressings. And now, I can make fresh, creamy yogurt anytime I want, right in my own kitchen.

Why I Decided to Buy One

I’m always looking for ways to add more healthy options to our daily meals (lalo na para kay Ykaie and Twinkle!), and yogurt is one of those go-to snacks that’s packed with probiotics and calcium. Pero aminado ako — the store-bought ones? Medyo pricey, especially the good-quality plain ones. And sometimes, ang daming sugar or additives. Pero it’s the price talaga that got me to buy one.

So when I saw this compact, affordable yogurt maker online with good reviews, I finally clicked “Add to Cart.”

Making Yogurt at Home is Easier Than I Thought

Honestly, I thought it would be a complicated process — parang science experiment levels. But it’s so simple!

You only need two ingredients:

  • Fresh milk (I usually use full cream)
  • A little bit of yogurt with live cultures (as a starter)

Just pour the milk in the yogurt maker, mix in the starter, and leave it overnight. 6 to12 hours to be exact. That’s it! In the morning, you wake up to a batch of fresh, thick, homemade yogurt. Sarap! Sometimes I stop the process at 10 hours.

Of course, later on, the starter came from the previous batch of homemade yogurt na.

The Best Part? You Can Flavor It However You Like!

What I love most is that I can control the sweetness and flavor. I usually portion it out and flavor it individually depending on our mood:

  • With condensed milk and my Homemade Strawberry Sauce for Ykaie
  • Honey or my Homemade Strawberry Sauce or fresh fruits for me (with chia seeds!)
  • Plain for smoothies or savory sauces

Sometimes I even strain it to make Greek-style yogurt — perfect for dips and spreads.

Is It Worth It?

100% YES.

Not only am I saving money in the long run, but I also feel good knowing what goes into our food. Plus, it’s one of those small joys in life — opening the yogurt maker and seeing your creamy creation. Nakaka-proud, promise!

If you’ve been thinking of getting a yogurt maker, consider this your sign. It’s a great little investment for your kitchen and your health. Masarap, mas tipid, and it feels so homey to make something so wholesome from scratch.
