Some days, the kitchen feels like a race. You woke up late, kids are hungry, may errands pa later, and suddenly you’re staring at the rice cooker thinking: Ano bang mabilis na ulam today?
And the answer — most of the time — is rice toppings.
Rice bowls are my official “busy mom lifesaver.” Fast, comforting, customizable, and perfect for those days when I just want a meal that’s done before I can even say “Kain na!”
Here are my favorite 15-minute rice toppings — a mix of Filipino classics and quick international flavors. Promise, these will save your day too.
1. Garlic Butter Chicken Rice Bowl
Just sauté chicken cubes in butter, garlic, a splash of soy, and a little honey. Plate it over hot rice. So simple pero super sarap — parang fast food meal but homemade.
2. Pork Giniling Rice Bowl
This one cooks fast because the meat is minced. Add carrots, peas, and konting tomato sauce. Instant comfort food, Filipino-style.
3. Tuna Mayo Rice Bowl
A no-cook blessing! Just mix canned tuna, Japanese mayo, a little soy sauce, and sesame seeds. Add nori strips.
Perfect for super pagod days.
4. Beef Tapa Stir-Fry Rice Bowl
Use thinly sliced beef so it cooks in minutes. Garlic rice + fried egg + tapa = weekday happiness.
⭐ 5. Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowl
Chicken thigh strips + soy + sugar + ginger + a splash of mirin or vinegar. Done in 15 minutes and always a hit.
6. Eggplant “Torta” Rice Bowl
Eggplant + beaten eggs + seasoned breading. Fry quickly and serve on top of rice. Drizzle banana ketchup — instant comfort.
7. Crispy Tofu Sisig Rice Bowl
Air fry tofu cubes, toss in mayo + calamansi + onions + soy. A healthier take that cooks faster than the usual.
Sometimes, all we need is a meal that’s fast, warm, and comforting.
Rice bowls do that — a little magic in a bowl, perfect for busy and pagod days.
