Santol Juice (Cotton Fruit Juice) for One

Santol Juice (Cotton Fruit Juice) | www.thepeachkitchen.com

One of the highlights of my childhood every “Santol season”, aside from eating the santol na sinasawsaw sa bagoong,is THIS. Santol Juice.

We used to have a Santol tree that bears lots of fruits every Summer and making it into juice is number one on my list of how I’m gonna eat them whenever I see them at home.

My nanay used to make a pitcher of this for the whole family… Now, I make a serving because I am the only one in my family who likes this. Siguro kasi hindi nakasanayan ni peanutbutter . Ykaie naman is not really fond of Santol.

My problem is how can I make them appreciate this gem of a juice?

There are two ways to make this. One is in the video you watched above where in you chop the santol meat into little pieces and mash them. Another is to purée the santol meat in a blender. This will yield a tastier juice but there’s no meat to munch on.

Gumagawa rin ba kayo ng Santol Juice, mommies?

Ano pang luto sa santol ang ginagawa nyo? Share nyo naman para magaya ko.

Scale
  • 1 large santol
  • 12 tbsp of sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • lots of ice

Instructions

  1. Peel santol and chop it up horizontally and vertically.
  2. Crumble it into pieces in a tall glass — I used a beer mug.
  3. Add the sugar and mash it to bring out the juices.
  4. Pour in the water and mix well.
  5. You can add lots of ice or just put it in the fridge to chill before consuming
  6. Enjoy!
