Ykaie’s Recognition Day 2024 and Lunch at Mary Grace Cafe

Mary Grace Cafe

Congratulations ate Ykaie! We are SUPER DUPER proud of you!

Last May 29, 2024 was Ykaie’s Recognition day. She received “With High Honors” Award and the “Bronze Seal, Principal’s List”. The Recognition day was held together with Grades 7 to 9. Kaya naman this was a two day affair since she’s in Grade 10, we still have a Moving Up Ceremony the next day.

We were there at 7am and it ended around 12pm. We were starving by the time it ended. Because we were celebrating her, I asked Ykaie where she would like to eat. She told me she wanted to have lunch at Mary Grace Cafe. It was a yes — I can only think about the warm glow of fairy lights, the inviting aroma of freshly baked ensaymadas, and the promise of a delightful al dente pastas!

Our Orders

Our meal began with a delightful selection of starters. The Crispy Cassava Chips with Onion Dip (₱287) is a favorite. Forget greasy potato chips! These pearly beauties were light, airy, and addictive, perfectly complemented by the creamy, tangy onion dip. Next came the Summer Squash Soup (₱228), a velvety smooth concoction that was both comforting and bursting with autumnal flavor.

We also had the Fried Kesong Puti & Calamansi Vinaigrette Salad (₱407), it has golden nuggets of kesong puti that was fried to a delightful crisp. Its richness balanced by the bright and citrusy calamansi dressing.

Ykaie had the Chorizo and Olive Pasta (₱426). The salty, savory chorizo and briny olives were a match made in heaven against the backdrop of al dente pasta.

Twinkle and I shared the Classic Carbonara (₱433) with rich, creamy Alfredo sauce that clung perfectly to the fettuccine, and punctuated by the salty smokiness of cured bacon. Daddydoodledoo had our favorite Mary Grace Mushroom Cream (₱498).The earthy fragrance of mushrooms filled the air as we dug into this creamy, decadent dish. Every bite was a symphony of textures – the soft pasta, the tender mushrooms, and the smooth sauce – a true delight for the senses.

By the end of our feast, we were happily satiated. We couldn’t resist a quick glance at the pastry counter, a Mary Grace tradition. But for now, our bellies were full and our hearts content. We decided to have frozen yogurt for dessert later instead.

Mary Grace Cafe is located at the G/F of SM City Grand Central
