🌾 Everyday Wellness, the Pinoy Way
When we hear “superfoods,” we think of kale, quinoa, or chia seeds — but honestly, Filipino food has had superfoods forever. They’re just humbly growing in our backyards or sold by manang at the palengke.
As I’ve gotten busier (and more conscious about family health), I’ve realized how much power local ingredients have — affordable, accessible, and packed with nutrients. Here are 5 Filipino superfoods that deserve a spot in your everyday meals.

1. Malunggay (Moringa)
The OG Pinoy superfood! Add it to tinola, munggo, or even pancake batter (yes, really!). Rich in vitamins A, C, and calcium.

2. Kamote (Sweet Potato)
High in fiber and antioxidants. I love baking kamote fries in the air fryer for Twinkle’s merienda — crispy outside, soft inside.
3. Coconut
From gata to buko juice, coconuts are full of good fats that keep you full longer. Try coconut milk oatmeal for a tropical breakfast twist.
4. Pili Nuts
Native to Bicol, these buttery nuts are rich in magnesium and vitamin E. Sprinkle crushed pili nuts on salads or desserts for crunch.
5. Kamias
Often ignored, but kamias is a natural souring agent and vitamin C booster. Use it in sinigang or as a base for refreshing drinks.
Healthy doesn’t mean imported or expensive. Sometimes, the best “superfoods” are right here at home — full of flavor, tradition, and heart. 💛
