Sunday Morning Coffee Run: Breakfast at Starbucks

breakfast at starbucks

Sundays are for slowing down… at least, that’s what I always tell myself — even if “slowing down” still involves grocery bags, a full list of things to buy, and a little chaos before lunch. 😅

One Sunday in October, sis came with us para mamalengke. You know how it is — when we’re together, errands magically turn into mini family dates. After we finished our shopping, she suddenly said, “Tara, kape muna tayo!” And just like that, our morning turned into an impromptu breakfast at Starbucks.

PSL Season Is Here

Of course, I couldn’t resist ordering my all-time favorite — the Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL). The moment I took that first sip, I felt like I was wrapped in a warm blanket of cinnamon, nutmeg, and creamy espresso. It’s sweet, cozy, and reminds me of fall — even if it’s 30°C outside here in Manila. 😂 It’s like drinking happiness in a cup!

Sis, on the other hand, went for her usual Café Americano — strong, bold, and straightforward. That’s just so her. DaddyDoodleDoo had his forever favorite Brewed Coffee, because for him, nothing beats the classic. One sip and he’s already in his “serious morning mood” — you know, the kind that says, “Don’t talk to me yet, I’m still downloading caffeine.” LOL!

Breakfast, but Make It Fancy

To go with our coffees, we ordered a few treats to share — and honestly, it felt like brunch more than breakfast!

First up was the Banana Apple Crumble Cake. Soft, moist, and just the right amount of sweet. You can really taste the buttery crumb topping and that mix of banana and apple — comforting and nostalgic, like something you’d have on a lazy Sunday at home.

Then came the Roasted Chicken Pesto Sandwich, which was my personal favorite. The bread was slightly toasted, the pesto smelled heavenly, and the roasted chicken was juicy and flavorful. It was perfectly balanced — rich but not heavy, something that pairs beautifully with coffee.

And finally, we shared the Screamy Cherrylicious Fritters (even the name sounds fun, right?). These were sweet, flaky, and had that slight tartness from the cherry filling that cuts through the sweetness. Every bite felt like a tiny burst of happiness — the kind that makes you go, “Okay, one more bite…” even if you’re already full.

Coffee, Chika, and Catching Up

What made that morning special wasn’t just the coffee or the food — it was the time we got to spend together. It’s been a while since the three of us sat down like that, just chatting and laughing about random things. The kind of conversation that bounces between life updates, chismis, and family plans.

By the time we finished our coffee, the sun was higher, the grocery bags were calling, and we were ready to face the rest of the day — but with fuller hearts (and fuller tummies).

Sometimes, it’s these small, spontaneous moments that recharge you. Just coffee, a bit of sweetness, and the people you love — the perfect Sunday combo. ☀️💛
