Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice

in seasoning, spice mix

You know how I’m so into “Fall”.

And with fall comes the apple, pumpkin and all recipes full of spices…

Of all the bread, cookies, cakes and sometimes, even the beverage that captured my interest, I think 90% of them has pumpkin pie spice on them or at least a combination of cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg…

So I went out to buy pre-made Pumpkin Pie Spice and I couldn’t find any.

It became my quest to find one. I went to posh baking stores and not-so-posh baking stores.

None. Zip. Nada. Not one teeny weeny sprinkling of Pumpkin Pie Spice.

Of course! I live in a country where pumpkin spice and eggnogs are not popular….

Well, it won’t stop me from having my Pumpkin Spice..

So I had to make my own…

I looked through my bottles of spices like a witch peeking into her small bottles of potion and look what I came up with..

Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice

Author:

Ingredients
  • 2½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp ground allspice
  • ½ tsp ground cloves

Directions
  1. In a small bowl, stir together all the spices.

That’s it. Easy and No fuss.

You can play with the amount of spices to get the combination that you like.

Gosh, I love Cinnamon! I put more of this than the other spices…

Expect an overdose of Pumpkin Pie Spice recipes from me in the coming weeks…

Ah, cloves. I really think that spice does the trick because I used a wee bit too much in my madeleines and I’m just reminded of pumpkin pie!
