Mondays are hard.

Mondays is when you begin all the things that you do or goals you like to achieve. Everything starts on a monday… like work, school, probably your new “diet” or working out

For me, today is when I start eating oatmeals again. Nope, I certainly won’t do that 30-Day oatmeal Challenge I did — or at least, tried to do — last year which lasted for about…uh… three days, hee.

Today, I just thought I’d make myself a make-ahead breakfast for the next few days and oatmeal is a great choice because it’s healthy and packs a lot of fiber.

I don’t like those flavored instant oatmeal packets you can buy at the supermarkets because they taste too sweet for my liking and they turn out to be bland and lacks flavor. I rather not eat oatmeal if I’m gonna eat that. So instead, I made some homemade DIY Instant Oatmeal Jars which are so easy to do and convenient to eat.

1 JAR = 1 Serving

You just have to add hot water or hot milk or put it in the microwave, then eat it straight out of the jar.

Come to think of it, making your own instant oatmeal is healthier, cheaper and more flavorful…. and the flavor combinations are endless. You can choose the level of sweetness and even use artificial sweeteners if you prefer it without sugar. Put nuts if you love nuts. If you’re trying to stick to a budget, use the food you already have in the fridge or around the house like spices, chocolate pieces, cookie pieces, or dried fruit

I made four flavors today which I’m planning to eat in the next four days. I didn’t add sugar because I used dried fruits and chocolate chips in some of the flavors and I think the sweetness that comes from the other ingredients would be enough.

  1. Ms. Peach! I love these! I though at first they were something decorative and here they are oatmeal! hah! Does putting them in the jar add something unique to it? I love the Pina Colada version! Sounds like my kind of flavor! And I agree, making them your own is healthier and you get to control what you put! Isn’t that great?!

    1. Hey Micole, 1Jar=1 serving and it’s easier to eat it straight from the jar! Thanks! I’m glad you love it.

    1. You’re welcome. Please share with the me the flavors you can come up with! Thanks for dropping by.

  2. What a neat idea! And so pretty to have lined up on the counter for breakfast each morning 🙂

PS…we’d LOVE you to add a post to our chocolate party. Just make sure your dish contains chocolate (any kind) and strawberries and was shared on your blog in the month of May. You can add up to 3 posts each month 🙂

  3. it has been ages since i’ve had oatmeal + now that i am seriously considering to go on a diet, i think it is about time i go back to oatmeal! this sure is a brilliant idea! i will look forward to each of the recipes you created!

now where to look for jars as fab as yours? 😉

  4. Oh, I love that idea but wait, there are mason jars in the Philippines? I’ve been longing to buy jars like that in different sizes in the US but carrying them back to Dubai in our luggages wouldn’t be a very good idea.

Kudos to your DIY oatmeal take. I certainly don’t mind doing that but I just want ti make sure I find mason jars here or at least similar and microwaveable too. I also like the idea of having different flavors to go with my oatmeal breakfast. Nice job sis!

  5. Now you make oats looks very appetizing. I am not fond of oats but adding those other yummy stuff, I might try it.

  6. I need to know how much green tea powder to one packet of instant oatmeal and sugar? My granddaughter loves the green tea oatmeal. She bought it once at a farmers market but hasn’t been able get it.I would like to be able to make this for her. I just need to get the measurements.Thank you so much if you can give them to me. And make one girl very happy Fran McMeel
