Chicken Stroganoff

This easy Chicken Stroganoff recipe is a comfort food classic with a tangy sour cream sauce, juicy chicken pieces and plenty of mushrooms, and It’s ready in just 30 minutes!

Chicken Stroganoff

If you’re like me and you love Beef Stroganoff, chances are that you’ll devour this irresistible version with juicy bites of chicken. It’s one of those ultra cozy meals that’s straightforward to make. The creamy mushroom sauce has that signature hint of tanginess that’s in any good stroganoff sauce

Stroganoff is classically made with beef and has sour cream. But this recipe is the chicken version of the classic. We had this on a Good Friday and the whole family loved it!

It’s easy to make and incredibly satisfying, making it ideal for busy weeknights, and can easily be served at a dinner party. The combination of mushrooms and sour cream makes this recipe a total crowd-pleaser every time!

Tips:

  • For a richer sauce, you can use all heavy cream instead of sour cream.
  • You can add a touch of Dijon mustard for more flavor.
  • You can add other vegetables to this dish, such as carrots or peas.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Chicken Stroganoff

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp chopped garlic
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • ½ kg chicken thighs, cut into bite size pieces
  • 2 tbsp liquid seasoning
  • 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 chicken cube
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup sliced button mushrooms
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • Salt & pepper
  • 400g spaghetti, cooked al dente
  • grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1.  Heat butter and sauté garlic and onions until fragrant.
  2. Stir-in chicken thighs.
  3.  Add liquid seasoning, worcestershire sauce and chicken cube. Cook for 15 minutes or until chicken is tender, adding water if necessary.
  4. Add the mushrooms.
  5. Pour the sour cream and bring to a simmer. Remove from heat.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste
  7. Pour over pasta or rice to serve.
  8. Sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese before serving.
