I love coffee but Iced Ube Latte is something I didn’t know I’d like. I didn’t think ube would go well with coffee until we had that leftover Halaya. The Halaya was turned into Ube Sauce and mixed with my coffee — it turned out so good!
Ube: Nature’s Candy
Ube, also known as purple yam, is a bright purple root vegetable from the Philippines with a slightly sweet, nutty flavor. It’s not just beautiful, it’s also incredibly versatile. It can be found in everything from jams and pastries to savory dishes. But today, we’re all about using ube syrup to create a delicious iced latte.
Last week, friends from Dionysus sent over some of their syrup. It includes Vanilla, Caramel, Passion Fruit, Guava, Green Mango, and Ube! Of course, UBE SYRUP is the one I tried first so I can make Iced Ube Latte.
Not only does this beverage gives out nice purple swirls over brown but it combines the rich flavor of coffee with the subtle sweetness and nuttiness of ube — truly an afternoon delight!
CAN I USE A DIFFERENT KIND OF MILK?
Yes, you can use whatever you like — whole milk, low fat, non-fat, almond milk, or oat milk. I used soy milk because it’s what I like for my coffee and I have to lessen my dairy intake because of my Silent Reflux (LPR).
WHAT KIND OF COFFEE CAN I USE?
You can use instant coffee, brewed coffee, cold brew, espresso, and even coffee alternatives.
If you haven’t tried this yet, I hope you get to soon! I’m sure you’ll love it like I do.
