Soya Cincau / Malaysia’s Michael Jackson Drink

And so my love for dairy and all things milk made me explore new levels of goodness.

Soya Cincau (Soh-yah Chin-Chau) is a mixture of sugar syrup, soy milk and grass jelly. It is also known as the Michael Jackson Drink. Why Michael Jackson? Because of his single Black or White. I find it funny and at the same time interesting.

My sister who calls herself Anney doesn’t drink milk — any kind. I guess she took it after my mom who doesn’t like the taste of milk lest its accompanied by another kind of taste. They would only take in milk if it’s in Halo-Halo, Mais con Hielo or Chicken Macaroni Soup.

Soya Cincau/ Malaysia’s Michael Jackson Drink

  • Grass Jelly, cut into small cubes
  • Chilled Soymilk
  • Sugar Syrup
  • Ice (optional)

  1. Just mix all the ingredients together and adjust them according to your taste. You can put as many grass jelly as you want. You can put a lot or no sugar syrup. And you can put ice, if you like it super cold.
