Calamares (Fried Squid)

Calamares is crispy fried squid.

This is one of my favorite dishes and one of many that my cousin served us when we stayed at her home in Subic.

Calamares (Fried Squid)

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 medium sized squids, cleaned and sliced into rings
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1½ cup flour
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 cups oil for deep frying

dipping sauce:

  • 5 tbsp soy sauce
  • juice of 2 calamansi

Instructions

  1. Season flour with salt and pepper. Se aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan.
  3. While oil is heating up, dip each squid ring in beaten egg then dredge in flour.
  4. Deep fry squid rings until golden brown.
  5. served with soy-calamansi dipping sauce

  1. Ooh wow! sarap nito! Why does a squid dish always tastes so delicious to my taste buds? … nagutom tuloy ako.

  2. Yummy! Sis share ko lang, my friend from the US said that they remove the dark violet membrane of the squid before cutting up and cooking, sabi mas masarap daw pag ganun. 🙂
